Dune Drifter - DEMO
Dune Drifter is a puzzle game for the Game Boy Advance. Not a game that looks like one — an actual GBA ROM that runs on real hardware.
You wake up in a desert and you're told to find the gods. There's no combat. You explore ruins, solve puzzles, collect star shards, and climb toward a distant spire.
And you can do one thing nobody else can. The desert lies to everyone — it shows them walls and paths that aren't really there. Hold B and you see the truth underneath.
This is the first area, start to finish. It ends where it ends.
CONTROLS
| Game Boy Advance | Keyboard |
|---|---|
| D-Pad | Arrow keys |
| A — talk | Z |
| B — hold to see the truth | X |
| L — tether | Q |
| R — tether | E |
| START — Backpack | Enter |
| SELECT — put the crates back | V |
Walk up into a ruin doorway to enter it. Walk onto a house door to go inside. Inside a ruin: START restarts the puzzle, SELECT leaves.
There is no save. It's about half an hour.
HOW TO RUN IT
Download the zip and open the .gba file in a Game Boy Advance emulator — mGBA (mgba.io) is free and good. Or put it on a flash cart and play it on a real GBA.
Every sprite, tile and animation frame is hand-drawn by me. None of the art is AI. I'm not a programmer — the C++ is written by an AI assistant from designs I describe to it. I designed the game and I drew the game. I'm learning to code so one day I won't need the help.
Made with Butano. Drawn in Piskel, built in Tiled.
